Welcome to Year 3!
Our adults are Mrs Brooks, Miss Butler, Mr Haden and Miss Nowacki

We love learning in Year 3. We work hard in our lessons and love the opportunity to be hands on with problem solving! We are also thrilled to be working with Severn Arts this year. We are currently learning to play the ukulele! 3B will go first and 3H after. We wonder if there will be any budding musicians in our year group?
In Reading, we have just started The Lion Inside. The children are loving this fiction text so far! This heartwarming story taught us that true courage comes from believing in ourselves and finding our own voice. Through fun discussions, creative activities and writing inspired by the characters, we discovered that even the smallest among us can achieve great things when we are brave and confident.

In Maths, we have been focusing on place value. We have really enjoyed building on our knowledge from Year 2. Through hands-on activities, games and challenges, we learn how hundreds, tens and ones work together to make numbers. We compare, order and investigate numbers, spotting patterns and solving puzzles along the way. By building our confidence with numbers, we lay the foundations for becoming fantastic mathematicians!

In writing, we have started looking at the book ‘Can I build another me’. We have loved this story as it has lots of funny parts! We have enjoyed sharing all of our own likes and dislikes! Through discussions, writing activities and creative projects, we explored themes of individuality, friendship and self-belief. The book reminded us that there is no one quite like us, and that our differences are what make us special.

In Art we have been focusing on sketching. Our key Artist is Frida Kahlo. We have really enjoyed using the sketching pencils and charcoal pencils to create our own observational drawings of animals from our story the lion inside. Inspired by her unique style, we created our own artwork, celebrating what makes each of us special while developing our creativity and confidence as young artists.
