Welcome to Reception!
The adults in RJY are Mrs Yates, Mrs Jacobs and Mrs Roberts. The adults in RD are Miss Darby and Miss Turner.
In Autumn term, our topic is ‘This is Me’. We will create our own timelines from baby to now. We talk about our families and who lives in our house and discuss our pets and how we look after them.
In maths, we will begin our number of the week journey and start to count, sort and compare numbers and objects.
In Literacy, we will develop our mark making and practice our early letter formation skills. These are the texts we will explore:
Parent Planner
Drawing Club, created by Greg Bottrill is a popular EYFS approach for Reception and Year 1 that blends storytelling, imagination, and mark-making. Using quality texts, children draw characters and settings, develop vocabulary, and add “secret symbols” to boost fine motor skills and writing confidence.
Outdoor Learning
Reception have a large enclosed outdoor area that is used daily in all areas of learning. We are so lucky that we get to go to our forest school every week all year round.
Speech and Language
We work closely with the NHS Speech & Language team. Emma Checketts is our Speech & Language Therapist. She visits our children throughout the term, supporting our children and their families as necessary.
